Charlie Ladd and Steve Hudson develop through Mustang Properties and the project company 800 Las Olas LLC; the East Las Olas land is recorded to Las Olas Hospitality Group LLC. The Whitfield was first approved around 2021 as a 10-story hotel of about 140 rooms. Construction began in 2022 and reached the basement garage and ground-floor foundation before the partners paused it to add condominiums.
The redesign by Stonehill Taylor, with Stiles Construction as contractor, adds 2 stories and 17 residences with 2 penthouses, priced by the developer at $3.7 million to $15 million. Ladd told the Sun Sentinel he expects local buyers and named Acqualina and the Brazilian Court as his model. No restart of construction had been reported as of October 2026.
